In the 1990s, Svetlana Alexievich traveled to areas of Belarus that had been contaminated by radiation. She interviewed witnesses to the reactor disaster who had returned to their homes or had defied the evacuation orders from the outset. Forty years after the accident, the exhibition Swetlana Alexijewitsch: Tschornobyl, shows excerpts from the extensive video archive for the first time. It was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Sylvia Sasse at the Slavic Department of the University of Zurich and is based on Philine Bickhardt's dissertation project on docu-fiction in the work of Svetlana Alexievich.
