RUTH BAETTIG

Ruth Baettig is an artist working with video, photography and performative interventions. Her practice is rooted in physical and existential experiences, often exploring contrasts—between nature and urban chaos, solitude and crowds. She studied in Geneva (HEAD), Cologne (Academy of Media Arts, MA) and Paris (École des Beaux-Arts) and has since participated in residencies, received scholarships and exhibited in Switzerland and internationally.
Her work frequently involves interventions in public space and site-specific projects, with recurring themes such as Auch ich in Arkadien / Berlin and Mi sono perso / I’m lost. In more recent projects, she collaborated with artists from other fields such as singing, acting and music. Since 2004, she has also worked in film, specialising in film education, curation, editing and production. She co-founded FILMEXPLORER together with Giuseppe Di Salvatore in 2016, advocating for film as an art form. She finds the interplay between her artistic and film-related work highly productive and contemporary.
